Patrick Egan (Pádraig Mac Aodhgáin)

Patrick Egan (Pádraig Aodhgáin) is a Kluge Fellow in Digital Studies and soon-to-be Fulbright scholar at the Library of Congress. A recent Digital Humanities PhD student at University College Cork in Ireland, for four years he worked on archival collections at UCC’s Library as a digital humanist and ethnomusicologist. He has over ten years experience working in the Multimedia and IT industry, is a web developer and award-winning musician.

Throughout 2019, Patrick has a number of digital projects underway, sharing data about recordings of Irish traditional music collected and held by the American Folklife Center (AFC). Patrick’s research aims to understand more fully the role that archives and collections might play in the lives of performers, as a result of the digital turn.
